School canopy costs and prices
What drives the price, and the figures we publish for each type.

A school canopy is priced by its size, its roof and the groundworks beneath it, not by a flat rate per square metre. As a guide, our playground canopies start from around £8,000, with larger or more heavily specified structures costing more, and every price is confirmed after a site survey.
What drives the price of a school canopy?
Four things move the figure most: the plan size and clear height, the roof (clear or opal polycarbonate, or a tensioned fabric on larger spans), the groundworks and foundations for the site, and the finish, including any RAL colour or laser-cut panels. A small wall-mounted playground canopy and a full clear-span cover over a games area are different structures, so they sit at very different points on the range.
How much do the different types cost?
The figures we publish, all confirmed at survey, are:
- Playground canopies from around £8,000, rising with span and specification.
- Covered walkways from around £450 to £700 per linear metre, depending on width and roof.

Are the prices before or after VAT?
We set out the VAT basis in the written quotation for your project, alongside the specification and drawings, so there is no ambiguity when you compare it against a budget or a bid.
Can funding cover the cost?
Often, yes. Schools fund canopies from condition and capital budgets, the Condition Improvement Fund, developer contributions and fundraising. Which route fits depends on the type of school and whether the case is condition, safety or expansion. The funding guide below sets out the options.
